Almost Made It To The Moon

by Trev Gibb

‘Almost Made It To The Moon’ was an across the Atlantic project to create an album of American Songbook standards. Pianist Adel Francisco lives in California, USA and Songwriter Trev Gibb lives in Newcastle, England, a distance of 5, 000 miles!

The genesis of the project began when Trev discovered Adel’s interpretation of Jimmy Webb’s ‘Didn’t We’ on YouTube and decided to contact him with an aim to collaborate. Trev sang into his laptop a vocal and sent it to Adel.

During the project Adel and Trev sketched out a list of songs and arrangements for each song, Adel sent Trev piano instrumental tracks recorded on a Tascam DR-05 that Trev had sent to him by post.

The plan was to make full orchestrations. Sadly Trev lost contact with Adel in 2014 and the project ceased with only 2 complete songs, 1 partially completed and another lost recording of Moonlight in Vermont.
